REQUIEM aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.

REQUIEM aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Solemn High Requiem Mass with absolution at the catafalque was offered in the church of St. Therese of Lisieux on the Feast of All Souls’. It was offered by the Very Reverend Martin Graham, P.P., who was assisted by the Reverend Damian McCaughan C.C. (Deacon) and the Very Reverend Brian McCann, P.P., (Subdeacon). The music was provided by the Schola Redemptoris.

Fr. Graham spoke, in his sermon, on the need to offer suffrages on behalf of the holy souls, above all the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and offered a scriptural exegesis based on the second book of Maccabees on the necessity of prayer for the dead, describing such suffrages as the acts of charity that unite the Church militant here on earth to the Church suffering in Purgatory – charity that directs towards and desires the goal already reached by the Church triumphant, glorious in Heaven.
