Feast of the Assumption and the Consecration of Ireland

Feast of the Assumption and the Consecration of Ireland

A Missa Cantata (sung Mass with incense) will be celebrated at 7.30pm on Thursday August 15th for the Feast of the Assumption at St Therese Church, Somerton Rd, Belfast.

This year the Bishops of Ireland are meeting in Knock on the feast of the Assumption and they have announced that they will formally consecrate Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on that day.  This spiritual act is made to the Father, through Christ in the Holy Spirit, imploring the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom we entrust ourselves completely, so as to keep our baptismal commitments and live as her children.

Our Mass in Belfast will be in thanksgiving for the act of consecration and we will take the opportunity at the end of Mass to consecrate ourselves and our families to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in communion with the Bishops and parishes north and south.
