Holy Mass for Requiem of the Holy Souls.

A Holy Mass was offered for the Requiem of the Holy Souls. The catafalque was used at the Mass. A catafalque is a representation of a coffin covered by the black pall and surrounded by six unbleached candles; it is a symbolic representation of the deceased. When it is present, the priest sings the absolution for the deceased as if the body was present.

This month’s Missa Cantata will be celebrated by Canon John O’Connor from the Institute of Christ the King. He was ordained this Summer and this will be his first Mass in Belfast.
